A reorder point is set for one item in isolation and does not know what is on the build plan. This schedule is the other way round: it explodes every scheduled build order through its bills of material, nets the requirement week by week, and drops incoming purchase orders into the week of their ETA. The projected on-hand line goes negative in the week the shortage actually bites.
